The right system depends on the site, its operating hours, the value of assets and how quickly conditions can change. A fixed retail premises needs a different approach to a construction project, vacant property or remote storage yard. Effective planning starts with the risk, then selects the equipment, installation and monitoring response to suit it.

Walk the site as an intruder would. Look beyond the front entrance and identify where someone could enter without being noticed, where they could hide, and which assets are easiest to remove or damage. Fixed CCTV is often the right choice for established premises with reliable power, network access and known camera locations. It suits homes, retail stores, offices, warehouses and facilities where coverage requirements remain consistent over time.
A solar-powered CCTV tower can be the more practical option where a site is exposed, temporary or difficult to cable. Towers provide elevated camera coverage and a highly visible security presence without requiring permanent infrastructure. They are well suited to construction sites, compounds, vacant blocks, civil works, temporary events and locations where assets move between projects.
There are trade-offs. A fixed system can offer extensive internal and external coverage across a permanent property, while a tower provides flexible, rapid deployment for priority areas. Plan for coverage, recordings and monitoring

Recording retention should reflect the operating environment, incident discovery time and storage capacity.
